A proposed charter school serving Onteora, Kingston, Saugerties, and surrounding school districts
An education
wildly different
by design
Our proposed school will be the first tuition-free, arts-integrated, nature-focused, community-driven public charter school in the Hudson Valley.
Why Woodstock?
"Our community is uniquely positioned to offer a public education unlike any other in New York State."
Why Choose Us?
- ●Rigorous Academics
- ●Arts-Integrated
- ●Nature-Focused
- ●Community-Centered
- ●No or Low Screens (Depending on State Requirements)
Our proposed school will offer an alternative to the conventional public elementary school model by harnessing the incredible resources of this area—the stunning landscape, rich arts legacy, thriving cultural organizations, and highly engaged community of parents and neighbors—to create a one-of-a-kind elementary school experience for our youngest learners, all completely tuition-free.
Rigorous, thoughtfully designed academics will form the foundation of our program, enriched by four central commitments: full integration of the arts across the curriculum, meaningful outdoor learning, an emphasis on the development of the whole child, and sustained collaboration with regional cultural and community organizations.
Students of all backgrounds and learning needs will experience a school day that unfolds not only in classrooms, but also in forests and fields, along creeks, and throughout the Village of Woodstock. They will learn side by side with artists, musicians, naturalists, wildlife rehabilitators, farmers, elders, and community leaders—experiences that will reinforce and extend their academic learning while making it tangible and relevant.
Our model is intentionally unconventional because place-based, experiential learning is vital in helping students gain and retain not only knowledge, but also a deep connection to the world around them.
